Hi, I would like to give my point of view (which coincides with the people I have discussed it with) about the SAO menu and discuss it with the rest of the forum. I think the menu width is exaggerated.
Also, I am recently using a 2k monitor for work, which “ aggravates the problem”.
I think there is too much unused space that could be used to view data more comfortably, since you don’t usually work by opening and closing the menu, it always stays open.
It could be improved by eliminating the space shown in red in the screenshot, making the column less width or even making it resizable.
This is my point of view, what does the rest of the community think about it?
For my any proposal to reduce the width of the menu (without losing the space for all the available options) will be very welcome.
Note that you should also test with a laptop with slow resolution. I usally test in firefox using resposive mode with 1280x800 resolution (it is named Laptop with MDPI screen). For me this is the minimum resolution to test.
Did you try to reduce the space as you proposed? It seems this is just some margin between the images, so it should not be complex to remove it.
Maybe the best is to fill a MR with some improvement proposal so others can test?
I have done some quick testing and got something that almost works with respect to the resizing of the menu. But this is a complex change.
Regarding reducing the width, although as you say it doesn’t seem a difficult task, I haven’t tried it yet.
Before spending time on it I would like to be sure that it would be a welcome change, so as not to waste time.
