Continuing the discussion from Release process:
Following the proposal of @jonl at the #TUL2017, I would like to propose a new release schema that would compromise between the ones who want frequent new releases with new features and those who want long term support.
The proposal is that we keep doing a release every 6 months but we support only the latest release and the previous one. Than we have releases with minor version 0 are long term support for 5 years.
Here is an example of the timeline:
