Cannot assign cost price to product for initial inventory

I’m trying to do an initial stock inventory. I have existing products with FIFO costing method. When I try to confirm the inventory from the GTK client (Logistics → Inventories), I get the error:

“A value is required for field ‘Cost Price’ in record…”

The cost_price field on the product is locked in the interface. The wizard “Modify Cost Price” doesn’t work either. What is the correct procedure to do an initial inventory in Tryton when the products already exist?

Inventory should not be used for initial stock level

The cost price of a product is set on the variant.

Thank you very much for the clarification! Now I understand. So for initial inventory I can use:

· Logistics → Shipments → Supplier Shipments to increase stock (I set the price manually in the shipment)

· Logistics → Shipments → Supplier Returns to decrease stock

Thanks for the help!

No need to use shipment because they require to define a supplier etc.
You can just create move directly and do them by skipping the warning about no origin.
