When creating a fixed asset from a supplier invoice, the asset module only allows selecting one invoice line as the acquisition source.
In practice, many assets are billed across multiple invoice lines because each line has different tax treatment, even though for depreciation purposes the asset is treated as a single unit.
Examples:
- Laptop purchase
- Line 1: Laptop (standard VAT)
- Line 2: Private copying levy (different VAT, separate line on the invoice)
Both lines together form a single asset, but only one line can be linked to the asset.
- Car acquisition with incentives
- Line 1: Car with “normal” taxes
- Line 2: Tax-exempt amount due to NextGeneration incentive
The car is one asset, but the amount has to be split into two lines for tax reasons.
The asset module forces the user to select only one invoice line. From my POV an asset should be able to reference multiple invoice lines from one (or more invoices ~~ not sure about this), so the acquisition cost of the asset should be the sum of all linked invoice lines.
