Swiss Federal goes Open Source

Hi folks
Great news for the open source community. The Swiss Federation has decided that all developments they do (themselves or together with other companies) shall reside under the open source concept. (If they rent software, they still can use proprietary software though).

But the strategy is great. There is a detailed documentation about the way open source development works, repositories, legal aspects, community building strategies, financing and last but not least – quality aspects. For us, a lot is not new but now we can refer to these official statements. One can see now why open source software with a working community is of good quality and how great software like Tryton can born and supported.

Check out Tools (en / de / fr / it).

Thanks all for our great work! One can’t say it too much!

Thanks @s.vogel for the news. Even though I’m in Canada, this is a great reference to increase the credibility of open source software and client confidence. I’ll be watching for the English translations of the documents!

It looks like the Public Money, Public Code campaign is working.
