macOS intel build

Our current mac mini for intel build supports ends with the support of macOS 12 (probably around June of this year).
So from this point building intel version for supported macOS will be uncertain.
We will need a more recent intel mac mini that is supported by macOS 14. unfortunatly Apple does not sell any more intel based mac mini.
I’m wondering if someone has one that he could “give” to the foundation so we can still support building intel version of the client for macOS as long as Apple continue to support intel processors.

Would it be possible to build from a qemu emulated machine like https://github.com/kholia/OSX-KVM to not depend on Mac hardware?

Please try it and tell us.

The date has come. The Homebrew project has stop supporting macOS 12 which is the last version available on our x86-64 mac mini.
So starting from now, there will be no new build release for this architecture, unless someone can provide a more recent machine with intel processor.

I found OpenCore Legacy Patcher which seems to be able to install new macOS on legacy mac mini.
I successfully made a clean installation but the OS is very slow. I suspect that it is because there is only 4G of memory and the hard-drive is still an HD. So I will try to upgrade the memory and put an SSD.

After changing the HD for a SSD, I could reinstall macOS Sequoia on the intel Mac mini and setup a building environment with Homebrew.

This cost me about 100€ for the SSD and the needed tools.
If you rely on having such macOS build, it will be kind to match with a donation to the foundation.
