In some countries there are multiple official languages, e.g. Switzerland has four official languages, Ireland has two languages.
Is it possible to show ledger account names in more than one language, based on the preferences of each user in the system?
I don’t think that is possible (without customisation) because I don’t think the account name is set as translatable.

You are right, the name is not translatable but is possible to define a chart of accounts in multiple languages and let the user pick the prefered language when creating the chart.
This is implemented on the Belgium Chart of accounts supporting fr and nl languages.
