How to add a field to a model

Hi

How do I add a field to a model.
I want to add a comment, text field to the BOM/inputs model.

I can see there is a “New” button to add a new field. But it’s not active, as in not clickable.

You can not add field from the UI, you have to create a custom module.
You can find the basics to create a module on https://downloads-cdn.tryton.org/TUL2014/crash-course.pdf (a little bit outdated).
