Hello. Am trying to learn GNU Health, beginning with the installation instructions: [GNU Health/Installation - Wikibooks, open books for an open world](https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/GNU_Health/Installation)

Tried to initialise the database with the following (GNU/Linux) command terminal:

python3 [/full/path/to…]/trytond-admin --all --database=health

Terminal error report:
"
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “trytond-admin”, line 21, in
admin.run(options)
File “/home/gnuhealth/gnuhealth/tryton/server/trytond-5.0.20/trytond/admin.py”, line 25, in run
with Transaction().start(db\_name, 0, \_nocache=True):

database = Database(database\_name).connect()

raise IOError(‘Database “%s” doesn't exist!’ % db\_filename)
OSError: Database “healthtrial.sqlite” doesn’t exist!
"

Any advice please to investigate?

You must create a `trytond.cfg` which defines the database connection. See [Configuration file — Tryton server](https://docs.tryton.org/projects/server/en/latest/topics/configuration.html#database)
I do not recommend using SQLite. It is only for developer testing.

Sqlite has never been installed manually; is this installed during the installation of the GNU Health modules including Tryton?

Thanks.

You do not need to install anything to use sqlite. Furthermore, sqlite is the default database driver for Tryton (and GNU Health).

So if you want to use PostgreSQL (wich is recomended) you should install the database driver and create a configuration file where you specify the postgresql database uri.

My configuration file looks like this:

[database]
uri = postgresql://172.17.0.1:5432/health321
path = /root
language = es
[web]
listen = \*:8000

When you configure PostgreSQL you need to be sure that PostgreSQL access rules are correct on **pg\_hba.conf and postgresql.conf** , otherwise you will have permissions problems.
