As described in solution of old post [Attachment preview does not show PDF documents in Windows client](https://discuss.tryton.org/t/attachment-preview-does-not-show-pdf-documents-in-windows-client/5422) we needed to wait for a new release of evince with the MR merged.
A I see in release [43.0](https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/releases/43.0) it was included in September 22.
When will be this feature available in Windows client?

When it will be updated on MSYS2: [Base Package: mingw-w64-evince - MSYS2 Packages](https://packages.msys2.org/base/mingw-w64-evince)

Is there anything we can do to get it updated?

I guess you can submit a merge request to the project.

Here is the proposal to update the package:

> Hi,
>
> I took the time to update evince package to 45.0 version. Note that this… is my first PR in this repository, so probably I'm missed something in the process. Let me know in such case so I can fix it.
>
> In the update process I removed all patches that seemed outdated and just keep the ones need to make the code compyle on msys2. For that I did:
>
> \- Remove some parts of the code that used the \`fnctl\` function which is not available on the build. For that I updated the current patch that already had some issue.
> \- Remove the \`pdf\_document\_load\_fn\` function which caused a compiling error.

> This allowed me to build the package.

The CI build is currently failing, until this is fixed upstream if anyone wants to try building tryton using the new evince feature just let me now so I can share the build package and the steps to install it manually.

Cheers!

Build is fixed, if anyone wants to try before the PR is merged, the package can be downloaded from the [build artifacts](https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages/actions/runs/8278012488/artifacts/1325308465).

FYI I have compiled the client 7.0 version with latest version of MSYS2 which includes both changes [“client-7-0-7-for-windows-fails-to-start”](https://discuss.tryton.org/t/client-7-0-7-for-windows-fails-to-start) and [evince update to 45.0](https://discuss.tryton.org/t/attachment-preview-does-not-show-pdf-documents-in-windows-client-7-0/7057/5) and the PDF preview still does not work.
