I am currently (mostly) successfully using Tryton for my start-up business. We use a consignment system in which agents drive around, periodically visiting partnering stores to check on stock levels. Stocks are ours until they sell, at which point we invoice the partner. Agents carry a cash float and invoices are paid cash by the partner. This makes the Sale Point module seem like a natural match, except that sales cannot be assigned to a customer, which is a bit of a bummer. Or am I missing something?

I happen to be a programmer with a functional proficiency level of Python, but no experience with Tryton’s API. Would adding a field for assigning Sales from Sale Points to Customers be a desirable feature?

No this is mainly the difference between sale and sale POS.

If you need to identify the customer, you should use a sale order.
